Being a Lefty Helped Barack Obama Win The Election!

So i was watching a news clip about Obama ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay and I noticed something interesting. Barack Obama is left handed!
I thought that was interesting and it made me recall something about lefties being smarter than righties…
So I turned to Wikipedia. Lo and behold! Here is what I found.
- Left-handedness and politics
-
Though constituting less than 10 percent of the general population, five of the last seven U.S presidents have been left-handed: Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Barack Obama’s opponent in the 2008 election, John McCain, is also left-handed.
- Left-handedness and intelligence
- In his book Right-Hand, Left-Hand,[34] Chris McManus of University College London argues that the proportion of left-handers is rising and left-handed people as a group have historically produced an above-average quota of high achievers. He says that left-handers’ brains are structured differently in a way that widens their range of abilities, and the genes that determine left-handedness also govern development of the language centres of the brain.
- McManus also says that the increase in the 20th century of people identifying as left-handed could produce a corresponding intellectual advance and a leap in the number of mathematical, sporting, or artistic geniuses.
- In 2006, researchers at Lafayette College and Johns Hopkins University in a study found that left-handed men are 15 percent richer than right-handed men for those who attended college, and 26 percent richer if they graduated. The wage difference is still unexplainable and does not appear to apply to women.[35]
- Possible effects in humans on thinking
- There are many theories on how being left-handed affects the way a person thinks. One theory divides left- and right-handed thinkers into two camps: visual simultaneous vs. linear sequential.[45][46][47][48]
According to this theory, right-handed people are thought to process information using a “linear sequential” method in which one thread must complete its processing before the next thread can be started.
Left-handed persons are thought to process information using a “visual simultaneous” method in which several threads can be processed simultaneously. Another way to view this is such: Suppose there were one thousand pieces of popcorn and one of them was colored blue. Right-handed people—using the linear sequential processing style—would look at the popcorn one at a time until they encountered the blue one. The left-handed person would spread out the pieces of popcorn and look at all of them to find the one that was blue. A side effect of these differing styles of processing is that right-handers need to complete one task before they can start the next. Left-handers, by contrast, are capable and comfortable switching between tasks. This seems to suggest that left-handed people have an excellent ability to multi-task, and anecdotal evidence that they are more creative may stem from this ability to multi-task.
Right-handed people process information using “analysis“, which is the method of solving a problem by breaking it down to its pieces and analyzing the pieces one at a time. By contrast, left-handed people process information using “synthesis“, which is the method of solving a problem by looking at the whole and trying to use pattern-matching to solve the problem.[48]
The hypothesis that left-handed people are predisposed to visual-based thought has been validated by a variety of evidence. In the 2004 book Brains That Work a Little Bit Differently[49], researchers Allen D. Bragdon and David Gamon, Ph.D., briefly described some of the current research on handedness and its significance. “Handedness researchers Coren and Clare Porac have shown that left-handed university students are more likely to major in visually-based, as opposed to language-based subjects. Another sample of 103 art students found anastounding 47 percent were left- or mixed-handed.” [page 76]
Ultimately, being left-handed is not an all-or-nothing situation. The processing styles operate on a continuum where some people are more visual-simultaneous and others are more linear-sequential.

So any other lefties out there? I would love to know if you guys also process things visually and simultaneously. Let me know!
Solution to The War in Gaza

I’m just really troubled by all of this, and want to brainstorm a peaceful solution…other than “killing all the Jews” or “killing all of the Palestinians” because that is not realistic.
I think that what the Palestinians really want is what we all want…A good quality of life, peace, tranquility, freedom, etc…
My main question is, do the people in Palestine really think that electing such violent leaders will be the means to such an end?
You guys have to understand that Jewish does not = anti Muslim…We can coexist and have done so for hundreds of years. Jews and Muslims are actually more similar to each other than either is to any other religion.
But this is not really a religious struggle…b/c most Israelis are secular
the way I see it, the struggle in the M.E. is not about Arabs vs. Israelis its about moderates vs. extremists.
Extremists on both sides are making the situation worse for everyone…
We need to think about FEASIBLE options to make the situation better.
Destroying ISRAEL is not a feasible option, because they have nuclear weapons and will use them if cornered. This is fact. So we have to accept it.
Eventually the other side will have nuclear weapons too, but that wouldn’t change the dynamic…
You think America wouldn’t want Russia out of the picture? And vice versa? But both are still around, because both don’t want to bring about the end of the world…
I really hope that the Palestinians don’t want to bring about the end of the world over a tiny piece of desert…
it’s simply not worth it…this may sound cliché but why can’t we all get along?
I understand that it’s hard to imagine right now…but over a period of time it is possible…
I think that Palestinians deserve an Eden in the west bank and Gaza strip. Why not use international attention to pressure for massive aid to build schools, infrastructure, jobs, buildings, docks, etc…Instead of using most of their resources towards aggression against Israel?
There are really only a few million people left in the west bank/Gaza…it’s about the size of Philadelphia both in geography and population.
I can imagine a huge metropolis built…
think about it, why can’t the Palestinian land be as advanced and as built up as Shanghai or Dubai? If the entire world chips in, and they don’t use the money to fight a losing battle, it can happen in my opinion.
And the entire world WOULD chip in. The Arab world for their brethren and the west because of their guilt. (think about how much the USA subsidizes other countries now…)
My friends…we need to start being realistic…this war has been going on too long…
we need authority in Palestine that is truly committed to the betterment of the lives of their people. Not blinded by violent and in my opinion apocalyptic ideology…
PEACE IS POSSIBLE, but only under fragile circumstances. WAR is so much easier… but there will be no eventually winner in this one…
please let me know what you think would be necessary for peace in the middle east I am very curious to hear your opinions…b/c this is definitely not the way to peace

Hamas needs to accept the fact that they will not destroy Israel. Nor will they end the occupation.
Why have we lost sight of what’s important? The lives of people should come before political agendas. Government leaders should care about their citizens first and foremost.
Starting wars when you live in such poor conditions is not the way to make them better.
I hope we can all find peace in our generation…
this constant war is getting old…

PS…
What was done to the Palestinians in 46′ was horrible I’m not denying that…
So was what was done to the Jews…in WWII
So was what was done the Native Americans…
And the Japanese…
and the Vietnamese…
and Indians (by Britain)
etc…
WAR will not solve these problems though…thats all I’m saying…only peace will remedy the wrongs that have been done…I think Israel owes the Palestinians an apology in the end…but it won’t come in these circumstances
